96-Well Plate Template

What is the 96-well plate template?

96-well plates are also often called microplates, so do not confuse this name with another one; it means the same thing. Microplates are compatible with deep well plates that are used for different types of analyses. Most of them are aimed at collecting samples, developing chemical compounds, purifying nucleic acids, and so on. So, microplates that are quite often used in medical and chemical laboratories are compatible with 96-well templates.

To identify the data, the template has its own designations. The lines are marked with an alphanumeric code, such as A1, A1, and so on, up to H12. It allows you to navigate and not confuse the information when you use a 96-well plate. It also has lines for signing the date and identifying the laboratory experiment by the operation number.

What are 96-well plates used for?

The 96-well template is used for the design of chemical laboratory experiments. For example, several rows of a deep well plate are seeded with different substances, and then the same substrate or element is added to each row. Next, the chemist looks at how the added element affects the substance and how it behaves in this environment under different conditions. The template helps to plan such a study, that is, to mark up in advance the compositions of substances that the chemist adds to the different rows of the deep well plate. Based on the results of the chemical reaction, it correlates the identified effects of various substrates on the main component that needed to be analyzed.

One of the most common cases of using 96-well plates, especially becoming popular this year, is the PCR method. The PCR is used for various applications and analyses when it is necessary to multiply (by copying) the amount of a sample of DNA or RNA. The tablets are ideally suited for applications where the optical signal of quantitative PCR (qPCR) is read through the bottom of the tablet.

When conducting PCR in a thermal cycler, you apply the tape to the PCR plate from above after you have filled the cells of the deep well plate. So you can get data on the state of the elements in each well of the deep well plate due to the translucency of the tape. Then you map the well plate to the template and enter the data into the latter. This is convenient to do owing to the fact that, as mentioned above, the template has an accurate markup and easily correlates with most standard deep well plates.

How to complete a 96-well plate template?

Thanks to the simple markup and standardization, filling in the template is not difficult. You can download and print out the 96-well template as listed above and fill it out manually, as well as enter the data directly on the page in the PDF form. PDF Reader Pro as the best PDF editor that will help you conveniently complete and save the well template. Let’s see how to do this in three tips:

Step1: Identify the Experiment

In order not to confuse the data for different experiments, first of all, specify the date and number of the experiment on the corresponding lines. You can also associate the template number with the number of the deep well plate.

Step 2: Enter Mandatory Boxes

In the body of the form, fill in the row and column that are required for your experiment. Please note that extra lines should be removed from the template if they are not used. Do not leave empty wells.

Step 3: Specify the Changes

Again, in the table, determine the changes that are expected to be seen after the reaction if this is a project design. You can mark the boxes and rows of templates with colors.

Generally, this is a brief guide to using the 96-well template. A specific experiment or medical analysis using deep well plates requires its own input data. There is no need to specify the sequence of steps for each procedure since we have presented the general order of filling in above. This is a simple form, so you can easily use it for the online design of experiments such as PCR, ELISA, and many others.
